THE 104th ANNUAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY
THEME:

"Walk In the Light!"

MHL

Welcome to the 2011 Annual General Assembly of The Church of the Living God, the Pillar and Ground of the Truth, Inc.    This is our 104th Annual General Assembly; and it all started in Greenville, Alabama in 1908.   To God be the glory!
"And God said, Let there be light: and there was light" (Genesis 1:3).    Science is well aware that "white light" is composed of all of the light waves of the visible spectrum, defined as "an array of entities, as light waves or particles, ordered in accordance with the magnitudes of a common physical property, as wavelength or mass: often the band of colors produced when sunlight is passed through a prism, comprising red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet" (Dictionary.com).    A total absence of any light waves produces "darkness." The "world" (earth) was carved out of darkness (Genesis 1:2) and placed in an environment of "light."    From God's institution of "light" emerged sight, or the ability to see from which are drawn the concepts of night and day.
The ability to "see clearly," distinguishing "a safe path from a faulty one," "good from evil," "right from wrong," etc., appears to have been God's design for mankind, even from the beginning.    Is there any wonder, then, that the Bible overflows with admonitions to "walk in the light"?    So intense was the Father regarding clear vision that He gave His only begotten Son to become that internal light, "...that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:15, 16).    Walking in "darkness" is dangerous and can even be fatal: "And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.    For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved .    But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest , that they are wrought in God" (John 3:19-21).
Let us, therefore, earnestly "...walk in the light of the Lord" (Isaiah 2:5).

  Yours faithfully,

(Bishop) M. H. Lewis, Chief Overseer
